We've been so busy this summer that I have not been posting much. We recently moved our home and studio to Gettysburg, PA - which was a major, major time-suck. The studio was so crammed full of boxes and equipment that there was barely any room to walk from one end to the other. The first priority was getting all of the printers back online and spitting out Bruce kits ASAP. Thankfully, the move didn't cause much of a delay in production. Speaking of Bruce kits - the wait time for kit orders is down to 7 weeks! Whoo-hoo! It peaked at 12-13 weeks.
The Tusken Raider bust will be our next release and not the Kong armature kit as we originally stated. The reason for this is mainly due to the popularity of our Bruce kit. The Raider will be a cast kit and will not interfere as much with the Bruce orders. We will release the Kong armature kit once the demand for Bruce dies down a bit.
I have decided to base the Kong armature on the 18-inch version instead of the 24-inch one. I think the skull on the smaller version is much more detailed/interesting. I also think that this is the version that most fans are familiar with. The photo above is of the head sculpt as it looks today. Obviously there is still much work to be done. I am also considering offering a kit of just the skull in a larger scale. Who knows - it might look pretty cool.
I was provided several really good reference photos from someone who held the original armature while having dinner with Bob Burns several years ago. Apparently, a lot of people have had this opportunity. I have had at least 5 other people share this same story. Sadly, I was not invited. :-)
